NetStorage Interface Guide

 

Browsing Folders:

  • Below is the main screen you will see after you log in. There are four areas in the window:
    • Top: This area shows you who is logged in and what folder you are currently browsing. It also contains your Exit and Text View buttons.
    • Left: This area lists all of your available folders in a tree view. By clicking on the + beside each folder, you can view any folders under that folder.
    • Right-Middle: This area shows you the contents of your folders and also contains the menu for file operations. 
    • Right-Bottom: This area contains the scroll bar for folders containing more than 75 items and is also used for move and copy operations.


  • If you have more than 75 items in a folder, you can use the scroll bar in the right-bottom area to browse:

 

File & Folder Operations:

  • Upload a file
    • First, you must make sure you have selected the folder where you want the file. Then click on the File menu and select Upload.


  • Next, you click the Browse button on the Upload File window and select the file that you want to upload then click the Upload button. The file will appear in the content area when it is finished uploading. 

 

  • Download a File
    • Editing a file is for when you want to edit the file and upload the changes back to your UNTSS account space. The file will remain locked until you upload the edited file. Viewing a file is for when you just want to look at or save a copy of a file in your UNTSS account to your local system. The procedure for viewing a file is the same as editing minus the dialog that prompts you to upload the file again.
    • Select a file in the content area that you want to download then click on the File menu and select Download for Editing or Download for Viewing.


    • Next, if you chose to Edit the file, you will see the Editing File dialog box. This box will remain until you are finished editing the file. When you are done editing, make sure and go back to this box, click the Browse button to locate your downloaded file and click the Finished button to upload it back to your account.

  • Next, you will see your browser's download dialog box. Select to Save the file. You may then choose a location for the download and save the file.

 

  • Copy/Move a File
    • The procedure to copy or move a file is the same. First select the file that you want to move/copy, then click on the Edit menu and select Copy or Move.

     

    • In the scroll area, a dialog will appear with a Paste button. Use the folder or content areas to find the folder where you want the file to reside, select that folder and then click the Paste button.

 

  • Create a New Folder
    • Select a location for the new folder in the Folder area then click on the File menu and select New Folder.

     

    • Enter the name of the folder you want to create in the next dialog box and click OK

  • Undelete a File
    • In the View menu, select Show Deleted Files.

     

    • You will now be able to see the files that you have recently deleted. To turn this off, go back to the View menu and select Hide Deleted Files.

  • Right-click on the deleted file that you would like to undelete select Undelete or you can select Purge to remove the file permanently.

Text View:

  • If you have problems with your browser, you might want to switch to the Text View.
    • In the top area, click on the Text View button to switch.


  • Most of the functions of the standard interface will also work in the Text View.
